I Skipped Moisturizer for 2 Weeks, and Here’s What Happened.

The writer of this entry has an oily face. Needless to say, has a gunk of oil that can fry a wholesome sunny side up. I Just want to let the readers know where this post is coming from. Having an oily skin doesn’t mean we could already skip moisturizer.

My beloved and most trusted moisturizer emptied two weeks ago. That was around second week of June. It didn’t come to me that I need a new bottle because I have hyaluronic acid, until now.

Hyaluronic acid isn’t harsh or skin-stripping at all. In fact, it’s the exact opposite – a powerful humectant (aka moisture-binding ingredient) that keeps skin plump and hydrated and, yes, young-looking. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring polysaccharide (carbohydrate) in the human body. – blog.doctoroz.com”

As how I interpret the above-mentioned description, hyaluronic acts as a moisturizer, and keeps skin plump and hydrated. Disclaimer here, Im not saying that these aren’t true, because yes it does. However, using hyaluronic acid in replacement of moisturizer is not okay.

So going back, since I emptied my moisturizer, I used hyaluronic instead. First few hours, it left my face matte, and supple. However, after 4 hours, my skin keeps on secreting oil. Not even my facial powder can stop my face from shining.

I let it go for a week, thinking maybe because of the crazy weather in PH. But still during rainy days, my face keeps on shining. And that’s when I realized that I need to get another bottle of moisturizer. Based on my research, our skin tends to secrete more oil to be moisturized. –> (me: ooooh, so that’s why..)

The morning when I decided to incorporate moisturizer on my daily routine again, I noticed that it turned back in having a tolerable oily skin, which can be managed by few puffs of powder.

On the next part, I’ll be sharing my favorite moisturizer.

* This is not a sponsored post. I bought these products using my own money*

I’ve been using this moisturizer gel ever since I could remember, and I can attest that it didn’t cause any breakouts, nor milia. This line from Neutrogena, which they called hydro boost (the only line from Neutrogena that didn’t broke my skin), are oil free, non-comedogenic thus, it doesn’t clog pores.

Photo below shows the hydroboost gel, in 40ml, which I’ve been using for years. 1 bottle can last me for half a year. I only use this every morning since I’m using sleeping mask at night.

I’ve already been to 3 different branches, but to my dismay, all of them got no stock. Soo, I decided to get the one that comes in a tub. They’re like the same, but the one in the tub has hyaluronic, comes in 50grams, but doesn’t contain SPF,

Though the latter one doesn’t have spf, it didn’t bother me because I’m using a separate product for sunblock.

All I care that the oil has subsided, and my skin also love the gel 😊

Both priced at 875.00 pesos.

Can be purchased at SM dept, Watsons
